About Old Paths Assembly

Our Story

Old Paths Assembly (OPA) began as a Southern Baptist congregation being convicted to keep the 4th Commandment, which states to “Remember the Sabbath Day, to set it apart.” (Exodus 20:8)   
Scripture states that Sabbath is the seventh day.  “And YHWH spoke to Mosheh, saying, ‘…And the children of Yisra’el shall guard the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.  Between Me and the children of Yisra’el it is a sign forever.  For in six day YHWH made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’” (Exodus 20:11, Leviticus 31:13-17).   We initially decided to change only our day of worship from Sunday to Sabbath (Saturday).  Little did we know the adventure that was ahead.  As we searched for TRUTH we discovered that the TORAH (teaching and instruction of_YHWH) contained other things that said to do forever.  Faced with a multitude of ideas coming in from all sides, we began to separate the ‘traditions’ from things validated directly in the Scriptures.  We studied things the Messiah practiced and eagerly embraced them.  We began to have a love for the Holy Land and the Hebrew language.  We soon found BLESSINGS come through TORAH obedience.  Keeping the feasts, appointed times ( Leviticus 23), has become a real JOY and BLESSING.  We have experienced shalom and true freedom.  We now know that His commands are for our good and in doing them we demonstrate our love for Him.  We desire to be a gathering place for believers, whether Jew or non-Jew in Messiah who are awakening to their lost heritage as Israel.  In the process we have discovered WE ARE ISRAELITES! We are born again, Torah observant Israelites.  We are awaiting His return and the Restoration of all things. “See, the days are coming,” declares_YHWH, when I shall make a new covenant with the house of Yisra’el and with the house of Yehudah, …after those days, declares_YHWH  I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts.  And I shall be their Elohim and they shall be my people. (Jeremiah 31: 31-33 and Hebrew 8: 8-10). Lives are being transformed as Jews and non-Jews begin to walk in a deeper relationship with the King of Kings, Yahshua our Messiah. We are becoming “one new man” as we leave behind the traditions of man and walk in a lifestyle that honors His Word. As equal heirs of the promise given to Abraham, we embrace Israel and appreciate the unique calling and blessing on our lives.
We are truly one people in Messiah: Israel.

Our Mission

Scripture is clear that Messiah will not return until all things spoken by the prophets come to pass. This is a huge undertaking, and one that will not be accomplished until His people rise up and accept their calling and role in His Kingdom. Our mission is to equip Believers for this mighty work. 

Our Purpose

The purpose of Old Paths Assembly is to follow Yahweh’s teachings and instructions so our lives may show our dedication to His will and prepare His people for the restoration of all things.  Further, we commit to sharing the good news of the Messiah and to work towards finding the lost sheep of Israel.  As a result, OPA hosts the Messianic Israel Study Center. 

An Invitation

We invite you to worship with us.  It is such a wonderful benefit to walk with a group of people who are firmly focused on Messiah and have a heart for Israel. Those at Old Paths Assembly attempt to carry out their role and responsibility as being part of the people of Israel.  We worship and study the Torah portions at 4 PM on Shabbat followed by oneg, a meal together.  We have ongoing classes in Hebrew and Davidic Dancing.  Daily Torah study will be happily arranged.  We observe the New Moon each month by playing of shofars and giving thanks to Him for His provisions.
We observe the Feast days and have special speakers come to do teachings.
